Hom Acharya
I am a professional Nepali language teacher and have been teaching Nepali for the past 25 years. Since 1997, I have worked with both native and non-native Nepali language students of all levels both individually and in groups in Nepal, Japan and United States.
As both a full-time faculty member and freelance language instructor. I teach Nepali language as a full-time at Cornell University. I have worked with professionals, researchers, Fulbright scholars, Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellows, and international students from diverse educational backgrounds. In addition to teaching undergraduate and graduate students.
My academic journey has been guided by a lifelong passion for language, education, and cultural exchange. Throughout my academic journey, I earned an M.Ed. in Nepali Language Education from Tribhuvan University, an M.S. in Japanese Language and Socio-cultural Studies from Shimane University, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Oklahoma State University. Along the way, I was honored to receive the Monbukagakusho Scholarship from the Government of Japan and the prestigious Mahendra Bidhya Bhushan (Gold Medal) award by the late King Birendra of Nepal, recognizing my pursuit of excellence in education
I am excited to welcome students, professionals, families, and lifelong learners from around the world into my classes, where together we will build language skills, explore Nepali culture, and create meaningful connections that last far beyond the classroom.
